PRIVACY POLICY

We collect the following information when you use Rate A Barber:

• Account information: name, email address, username, password (handled by our authentication provider)
• Profile information: barbers may add a photo, bio, services, prices, social links, and shop information
• Location data: city, state, zip, and approximate geographic coordinates of barbershops
• Payment information: processed and stored by Stripe — we do not store full card numbers on our servers
• User-uploaded content: profile photos, gallery photos, post photos, video thumbnails (hosted on Cloudinary)
• Usage data: page views, follows, likes, reviews, comments, and search activity
• Device data: IP address, browser type, and approximate location for analytics and security

We use the data we collect to:

• Operate the Service — display profiles, process searches, deliver reviews
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Send transactional emails (account confirmations, billing notices, review notifications)
• Send marketing emails (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations
• Improve the Service and develop new features

Rate A Barber does not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies. We share data only with the service providers listed below, and only as needed to operate the Service.

We use the following third-party services to operate Rate A Barber:

• Clerk — authentication and user account management
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing
• Supabase — database and backend infrastructure
• Cloudinary — photo and video storage and delivery
• Resend — transactional and marketing email delivery
• Google Maps Platform — maps, geocoding, and place data
• Netlify — web hosting and deployment

Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data we send to it. We share only the minimum necessary data with each provider.

Rate A Barber uses cookies and browser local storage for essential functions (signing you in, keeping your session active, remembering preferences). We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Some of our service providers (e.g., Clerk, Stripe) set their own cookies necessary for their functionality.

You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by emailing rateabarber@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account. We will delete your data within 30 days of receiving the request, subject to limited exceptions (e.g., financial records we are legally required to retain).

Some content you have published — such as reviews — may continue to be visible in anonymized form after your account is deleted, in order to preserve the integrity of the review history for other users.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to:

• Know what personal information we have collected about you
• Access a copy of that information
• Delete your personal information (subject to exceptions)
• Opt out of any "sale" of your personal information — note that we do not sell personal information
• Non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights

To exercise any of these rights, email rateabarber@gmail.com. We will respond within 45 days as required by CCPA.

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data: HTTPS for all traffic, encrypted database storage, isolated production environments, minimum-necessary access for staff and service providers, and ongoing monitoring for suspicious activity. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach occurs that materially affects your personal data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

Rate A Barber is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact rateabarber@gmail.com and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
